Monday’s drive from Cheyenne to Lander was a long, hot one! We passed through Rawlins at mid-day, stopping by the Old Wyoming Penitentiary, a highlight of Rawlins that Ivey shared with us. We wrapped up our Friday night in Casper at the Casper Planetarium. We had the best tour of the night sky by a young guy not much older than we are, and was the cutest little nerd we ever met. Although we spent a rainy night at our Devil’s Tower campsite, we woke up to a beautiful morning. We went on the morning ranger walk around the base of the tower. Vivie and Taylor, Explore Wyoming Participants - Educational Programs
On our way through Yellowstone, we stopped at West Thumb to take a look at some geothermal activity. We brought our temperature-reading laser gun out on the boardwalk and used it to read the different levels of heat in the pools and microbial mats. The highest temperature was 176 degrees Fahrenheit!
